Ferrari Enzo #399
In a remarkable discovery back in September 2013, Ronald Vogel and John Temerian unveiled the mysterious Ferrari Enzo #399. This particular Enzo had remained hidden from the automotive world due to its discreet history, leading many to question its very existence. After extensive research and verification by experts like Marcel Massini, Joe Sackey, and Marco Zanasi, the car's historical significance was confirmed.
During the 1970s and 1980s, strict US safety and environmental standards, spearheaded by Ralph Nader and the EPA/DOT, mandated that all vehicles comply. To facilitate the importation of non-conforming vehicles into the US, John Temerian enlisted the services of JK Technologies, one of the few firms authorized by the Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency for such certifications.
Notably, USA specification Enzos already had US-specific bumpers and lights, simplifying the compliance process. EPA/DOT approval mainly involved replacing the exhaust catalyst, seatbelts, and taillights with US specification factory parts. The importation of the Ferrari Enzo #399 was a challenging journey marked by parts scarcity and complex problem-solving. This unique Enzo's importation is likely to be one of the last of its kind into the USA until 2029, given the considerable effort, cost, and parts challenges involved.
